Driving Sustainable Change in Louisiana

  • It’s best to pair an innovative industry like renewable energy with superior talent. The Cleco service territory is home to 24 universities and colleges, with the top five institutions in each subregion awarding over 6,000 degrees in programs directly relevant to major industry categories. Whether a renewable energy company seeks engineers or researchers, programs like Tulane University’s Masters of Management in Energy and University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Solar Energy Lab are building and educating the next generation of sustainable energy talent.

    Learn More About Our Workforce
  • From Louisiana’s Industrial Tax Exemption Program to its Quality Jobs Program, renewable energy companies in the Cleco service territory have access to robust incentives. And, qualifying energy companies can also find free, customized training through the state’s No. 1 ranked workforce development program, LED FastStart.

    Learn More About Our Incentives
  • Cleco has several initiatives that boost the region’s authority as a global leader in sustainability. Through Project Diamond Vault, we are replacing coal-fired generation units with renewable energy resources through a secured investment of $9 million in congressional funding. Net-zero emissions are expected to be achieved by 2020.

And, a separate initiative called H₂theFuture seeks to build a hydrogen energy cluster by facilitating private-public partnerships between research facilities, local universities, businesses and workforce.
